What Stencil is
Stencil is software for running a tattoo studio: a day board, client records, bookings, deposits recorded as bookkeeping, consent forms, and an assistant that answers enquiries. You use it as a studio; your clients never sign in to it.
Your data is yours
Everything you put into Stencil belongs to your studio. We store it so the software can work, and we do not sell it, rent it, or use it to train models. Each studio's records are isolated from every other studio at the database level.
You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time. See deleting your data.
Money
Stencil holds no funds, moves no funds and stores no card details. Payment records in the software are entries you write down about money that moved elsewhere. Deposits, refunds and what you settle with your artists happen entirely outside Stencil and are between you and them.
The assistant
The assistant drafts replies and proposes bookings. It never writes a booking into the diary on its own: somebody in the studio approves each one first. It can be wrong, and you remain responsible for what your studio tells a client.
Model usage runs on Stencil's account unless you connect your own. Either way, conversations are sent to the model provider named in our privacy notice so a reply can be generated.
Connected accounts
If you connect Instagram or another service, you are telling us to act for your studio on that account: to read messages sent to it and to send the replies you or the assistant produce. You can disconnect at any time, which stops both immediately. Those services have their own terms, and they can suspend access independently of us.
Your responsibilities
Keep your logins to the people who work in your studio. Everything done with a login is treated as done by that studio. Client records, including anything medical a client tells you, are yours to handle lawfully — Stencil gives you somewhere to keep them, not permission to collect them.
Availability, and what we do not promise
Stencil is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and we do not promise it will never be unavailable. Where a connected service such as Instagram stops delivering, the software will tell you rather than fail silently, but we cannot make that service work.
Ending it
You can stop using Stencil whenever you like and ask for your data back or deleted. We would give you reasonable notice before withdrawing the service, except where we have to act immediately to protect people or comply with the law.
